Mondays at the church Mac

Schedule change:
We saved the study of Perpetua for Monday the 23rd.
Many of us stayed and watched the Torchlighter's video of Perpetua. It was sad but very good. We will continue to show the next weeks' video at 4:15 for those that want to stay and watch.
Next week we will work on the story of Perpetua and do the worksheets. We will also test on James 1. Five questions, big prizes for those that correctly answer every question, but note: the questions will be different for each student so be ready. Read the Scripture. We will show Eric Liddell's video at 4:15.
Thank you to all of the students when came to church today. Excellent work.
See you next week for the first half of James 2:1-13, the story of Perpetua and the handouts and we will begin our felt crosses.
Blessing and have a great week. BEV

After School at the Church

For Monday March 4th 2013

This week we will study: Matthew 3:1-4:11 and John 1:19-35

Memory work so far:
Lesson 1
Isaiah 9
6 For to us a child is born,
    to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

and a story about the most amazing and impossible happening

Lesson 2
Luke 2
30 for my eyes have seen your salvation
31     that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel.”
and
John 8
12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Additional assignment, what is walking in darkness? How do we follow Jesus? What is the light of life?

Lesson 3
Matthew 2
13 After they were gone, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Get up! Take the child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. For Herod is about to search for the child to destroy Him.” 14 So he got up, took the child and His mother during the night, and escaped to Egypt. 15 He stayed there until Herod’s death, so that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled: Out of Egypt I called My Son.
and
19 After Herod died, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, 20 saying, “Get up! Take the child and His mother and go to the land of Israel, because those who sought the child’s life are dead.” 21 So he got up, took the child and His mother, and entered the land of Israel. 22 But when he heard that Archelaus was ruling over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned in a dream, he withdrew to the region of Galilee. 23 Then he went and settled in a town called Nazareth to fulfill what was spoken through the prophets, that He will be called a Nazarene.
and

Luke 2
46 After three days, they found Him in the temple complex sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all those who heard Him were astounded at His understanding and His answers. 48 When His parents saw Him, they were astonished, and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for You.”
49 “Why were you searching for Me?” He asked them. “Didn’t you know that I had to be in My Father’s house?” 50 But they did not understand what He said to them.
and

What does Jesus mean when he asks, “Didn’t you know that I had to be in My Father’s house?
What prophesy was fulfilled when Joseph and Mary fled to Egypt?
What prophesy was fulfilled when Joseph and Mary settled in Nazareth?

We will be looking at the Widow's Mite

Scripture: Gospel Mark 12:38-44
38As he taught, he said, "Beware of the scribes, who like to walk around in long robes, and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, 39and to have the best seats in the synagogues and places of honor at banquets! 40They devour widows' houses and for the sake of appearance say long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation."
41He sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. 42A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. 43Then he called his disciples and said to them, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. 44For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on."

Word:         Abundance
Concept:     Devotion

Parents and Caregivers continue the study

During the week talk about what it is to give your all, maybe use an example from sports and think of our veterans this week who pledged to give even their lives to forward the freedoms of our country.

Scripture 1 John 3:10-15 Love’s Imperative

What is an imperative? Something that is absolutely necessary and urgent. Think of ways that love could be urgent then read the Scripture,1 John 3:10-15, then read the second Scripture posted below John 17:14

How is Jesus not of this world? What does He mean by not being of this world?

Halloween Party - It is All Hallow's Eve or Halloween a time to pray for the saints and the church. We will have some fun on Monday doing just that. Be prepared for a prayer/cupcake walk and a few small contests. See you there.

1 John 3:10-15 Love’s Imperative

10 This is how God’s children—and the Devil’s children—are made evident.
The Command to Love

Whoever does not do what is right is not of God, especially the one who does not love his brother.(A) 11 For this is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another, 12 unlike Cain,(B) who was of the evil one(C) and murdered[a] his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil, and his brother’s were righteous. 13 Do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates(D) you. 14 We know that we have passed from death to life because we love our brothers. The one who does not love remains in death.(E) 15 Everyone who hates his brother(F) is a murderer,(G) and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.

After School at the Church Hagerman Presbyterian

3:20=4:45 on Mondays

For the week of October 22nd

Scripture this week: 1 John 2:28-3:10 Remaining in God, God’s Children

This week we are going to the corn maze. We leave at 3:40 after Scripture and snack and return around 6:00pm.

Children's Church October 21, 2012

Word: Ransom

Concept: Service

Scripture:  Mark 10:35-45

We will discuss John and James wanting to be considered special and what that consideration meant to Jesus and to John and James. We will talk about service and Jesus' life as a ransom for many.

Prayers will include food banks and church missions.

Mark 10:35-45

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approached Him and said, “Teacher, we want You to do something for us if we ask You.”
36 “What do you want Me to do for you?” He asked them.
37 They answered Him, “Allow us to sit at Your right and at Your left in Your glory.”
38 But Jesus said to them, “You don’t know what you’re asking. Are you able to drink the cup I drink or to be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?”
39 “We are able,” they told Him.
Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink, and you will be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with. 40 But to sit at My right or left is not Mine to give; instead, it is for those it has been prepared for.” 41 When the other 10 disciples heard this, they began to be indignant with James and John.
42 Jesus called them over and said to them, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles dominate them, and their men of high positions exercise power over them. 43 But it must not be like that among you. On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first among you must be a slave to all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life—a ransom for many.”

Parents and Caregivers:

Continue the study by focusing on service this week. Remind children to work and play with care to be the best child of God they can be.
 Colossians 3:12-17
12 Therefore, God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, 13 accepting one another and forgiving one another if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you must also forgive. 14 Above all, put on love—the perfect bond of unity. 15 And let the peace of the Messiah, to which you were also called in one body, control your hearts. Be thankful. 16 Let the message about the Messiah dwell richly among you, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Concept:    Calm the sea

Scripture: 1Samuel 17, Mark 4:35-41

We will discuss the faith that David had when he slew Goliath and then concentrate on the disciples' reaction in the boat Mark 4:41; And they were terrified and asked one another, “Who then is this? Even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

Parents and Caregivers
